  2   Contrast

Contrast is your attention-grabbing superpower. Contrast creates visual interest and draws attention to certain parts of the design, helping establish hierarchy and emphasize important information. Use dark text on light backgrounds, or pair bold shapes with delicate typography.

Good Contrast:

A school bulletin board notice with a light beige background. The main heading "Picture Day Reminder!" is in a bold, dark blue. The date "Monday, October 20th" is slightly smaller but still dark blue, and the instruction "Dress your best!" is in a clear, medium blue, ensuring all text is highly readable against the light background.

Bad Contrast:

A school bulletin board notice with a bright neon green background. The heading "Picture Day Reminder!" is in a light lime green. The date "Monday, October 20th" is in a faint yellow, and "Dress your best!" is in a pale orange. All the text blends into the background, making it very difficult to read and completely lacking impact.
